| Easy USB for P928 and PH28 PIC Training Courses |
![]() |
Our P928/PH28 programmer is shown in the picture. Notice that it has a USB socket at the right hand side of the back edge. This USB socket connects to the 28 pin PIC when it is fitted in the 40 pin ZIF socket. We use this USB socket for our USB experiments. How often have you read the words SIMPLE USB - then they start explaining how the descriptor table of the USB functions. That is not our idea of what simple USB means. We certainly do not expect our students to understand anything about these complicated setting up procedures. We have created a USB library for the PIC which requires no setting up. You can use the USB input and output simply by calling the input and output subroutines. This allows your PIC code to be written using the simplest of assembly language instructions without you needing to know anything about the setting up procedures of USB. Likewise with the PC side of the USB link, there are no complicated USB settings to worry about. Just one line of Visual C# code is needed to set the speed and other parameters of the port. The book supplied with our Easy USB includes a beginners introduction to Visual C# as you will need to learn some Visual C# instructions to write the PC programme. More details about Visual C# can be found in Experimenting with Serial Communication which is part of the PH28 course. The Easy USB extension comprises the following:- 128 page book 240 by 170mm with wirobinding BSPWA versions 9 assembler with integrated USB library one PIC18F2450 USB PIC and a USB to PC lead. The price for Easy USB as listed above is £15 if purchased at the same time as a P928 or PH28 training course. |
